Channa (Chole)


Chick peas, boiled	1 1/2cup
Onion, finely chopped	2 1/2cups
Tomatoes chopped	1/2 cup
Cumin ground		2tbsp.
Garlic minced		1 tbsp.
Ginger, minced		1 tbsp.
Green chilli, minced	1 tbsp.
Bay leaf		1-2
Coriander powder	2 tbsp.
Turmeric		1/2 tsp.
Oil			2 1/2 tbsp.
Salt			To taste

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add bay leaf, onion and stir fry until brown in color.
  2. Add ginger, garlic and cook for some time. Then add turmeric, cumin, coriander & chilli.
  3. Now put the tomatoes and salt, cover and cook over low heat until the tomatoes become soft.
  4. Keep stirring to prevent sticking and add a little water if necessary.
  5. Add cooked chick peas and cook for 5 -10 minutes.
  6. Take off from the heat and serve hot with puris, kulchas or even toasted bread.
