Idli Fry
Idlis 8 nos
Gram flour 2 tbsp
Onion chopped 1 no
Ginger grated 1 tsp
Green chillies 1-2 (chopped)
Oil For frying
Salt To taste
For gravy:
Curd 2 tbsp
Grated fresh coconut 2 tsp (optional)
Onion grated 2 tsp
Chilli powder To taste
Turmeric 1/4 tsp
Garam masala 1/4 tsp
Bay leaf 1 no
Refind oil 1 1/2 tsp
- Cut the idli into two pieces.
- Mix the gram flour in small water and make it a batter.
- Add Chopped onions, grated ginger, green chillies and small salt.
- Heat oil in a deep fry pan. Dip the idli pieces in the batter, and deep fry and keep aside.
- Now for gravy take a different pan. Heat 2 tsp of oil. Add bay leaf and grated onion.
- Fry till the onion is light pink in color. If you are using grated fresh coconut add it now.
- Add the garam masala powder, turmeric, chilli powder and fry for 1/2 minute.
- Add curd and fry till the oil leaves the sides. Add enough water so that the
idli pieces can well be dipped in that.
- Reduce the flame. Boil for 3-4 minutes. Add salt. Add the idli pieces and boil for one more
minute.
- Serve hot with rice.
