Idli Fry


Idlis				8 nos
Gram flour			2 tbsp
Onion chopped			1 no
Ginger grated			1 tsp
Green chillies			1-2 (chopped)
Oil				For frying
Salt 				To taste

   For gravy:
Curd				2 tbsp
Grated fresh coconut		2 tsp (optional)
Onion grated			2 tsp
Chilli powder			To taste
Turmeric			1/4 tsp
Garam masala			1/4 tsp
Bay leaf			1 no
Refind oil			1 1/2 tsp

      

  1. Cut the idli into two pieces.
  2. Mix the gram flour in small water and make it a batter.
  3. Add Chopped onions, grated ginger, green chillies and small salt.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fry pan. Dip the idli pieces in the batter, and deep fry and keep aside.
  5. Now for gravy take a different pan. Heat 2 tsp of oil. Add bay leaf and grated onion.
  6. Fry till the onion is light pink in color. If you are using grated fresh coconut add it now.
  7. Add the garam masala powder, turmeric, chilli powder and fry for 1/2 minute.
  8. Add curd and fry till the oil leaves the sides. Add enough water so that the idli pieces can well be dipped in that.
  9. Reduce the flame. Boil for 3-4 minutes. Add salt. Add the idli pieces and boil for one more minute.
  10. Serve hot with rice.
