Moong Dal Halwa


Greengram Dal(moong)		250 gms
Ghee/butter/margarine		1 cup
Sugar				1 cup
Milk				1 litre
Mawa/milk powder		50 gms
Saffron essence			1/4 tsp
Saffron colour			1/4 tsp
Green cardamoms			4-5
Cinnamon			1/2" piece
Cloves				3-4
 

  1. Soak dal overnight. Grind coarsely in the mixer.
  2. Heat ghee in a deep pan and lightly fry green cardamoms, cloves and cinnamon.
  3. Reduce heat and add the ground dal. Fry on medium heat to a golden brown color.
  4. Reduce heat and add milk. When milk thickens, add sugar and saffron.
  5. Fry till ghee separates.
  6. Add milk powder, mix well and fry for 5 minutes stirring continuously. Remove from heat.
  7. Garnish with almonds.
